Rosehall Remembrance 14 November 2021

A short commemoration was held at Rosehall War Memorial when Session Clerk, Lt Colonel Colin Gilmour led prayers for those from the parish who had died during The Great War and World War II.  Wreaths were laid on behalf of the British Legion, Creich branch by Colin Gilmour, on behalf of the Sutherland Masonic Lodge by Donald Macdonald and on behalf of Lovat Scouts by Mrs Carol Gilmour.  Individual crosses were laid by other residents of the parish and stones, which had been painted by Rosehall Primary School pupils, were placed by Cara Forrest, Linside.  Everyone walked down to the church for the Remembrance service where more residents of the parish were already seated.  Dr Victor Bruce played the organ and Lily Byron read the names of the fallen while Anne Gould read Binyon’s words and John Wood gave the Kohima epitaph.  Adrian Fenn read from the Bible and Richard Peirse-Duncombe read John McCrae’s “In Flanders fields”.  A collection was taken up for the work of the Earl Haig Fund through PoppyScotland.
